Q: - Can you briefly remind us about your company, Oshik?
HomeBiogas is an Israeli biogas company established in 2012. We manufacture a patented off-grid biodigester that enables users to treat all their animal manure and food waste, while generating free clean-burning gas for cooking and nutrient-rich bio-slurry for their crops. This technology is changing the lives of countless families, farmers and rural households worldwide, as it saves money, improves health, and provides an energy & waste management infrastructure.
Q: - What were the highlights of Vivatech 2018?
The highlights for us were meeting other members of the ENGIE family. Vivatech introduced us to other companies and technologies in our eco-system, and gave us a meeting-place to begin forming partnerships. We also received uplifting media coverage, being listed as one of the seven technologies not to be missed at Vivatech.
Q: - And what are the recent developments in your partnership with ENGIE?
Since Vivatech we have created partnerships with several ENGIE companies and business units, such as Fenix and BBOXX. We are currently working on decentralized solutions for sanitation and renewable energy in Africa.
Q: - What will you showcase at CES and why?
We will be showing a demonstration model of our HomeBiogas biodigester: the most efficient, affordable and rewarding way to transform food waste into energy in your backyard. We will also be presenting our new Bio-Toilet solution, which connects to the HomeBiogas system. It enables human toilet waste to be converted into cooking fuel in an elegant, user-friendly way that requires connection to neither the sewage nor the water system. The HomeBiogas Bio-Toilet and biodigester can benefit many different kinds of people in developed areas: eco-conscious people who want to reduce their carbon and water footprint; people who are living off-grid and are not connected to the public sewage system; and also people in disaster areas. In underserved areas the Bio-Toilet offers a solution for the billions of people who do not have access to basic toilet facilities.
Q: - What would be the 'magic encounter' for you at CES?
We are hoping to make good connections that will lead to increased cooperation and more distribution channels, both in the US and internationally.
Q: - How do you imagine access to energy in 2030?
In terms of our company, we envision larger biodigester units suitable for large farms, restaurants and collective use. We hope that biogas can provide cooking fuel, lighting and water heating for the masses of people who do not have access to clean and affordable energy.
