The storage of the electricity produced from renewable energy sources is an issue of the energy transition, because these energies are occasional and unpredictable. The natural gas network could pro offer vide a solution through the conversion of the excess electricity in fuel gas, that is in hydrogen or in methane. This process is called "Power to Gas". The conversion of electricity into hydrogen is carried out by electrolysis. Then, hydrogen can either be injected as it stands in the gas network, or be converted to methane by a supply of CO2.
