Heliatek @Viva Technology 2022: the future is light!

Heliatek was created in 2006 as a spin-off from Dresden University, and concentrated on developing organic photovoltaics films. In 2016, ENGIE New Ventures, ENGIE's corporate venture capital fund dedicated to innovation invested in the company. From June 15 to 18, Heliatek will be showcased on ENGIE’s booth at Viva Technology. We asked Spiros Christaras, Head of Business Development at Heliatek, to tell us more about the company and the opportunities this participation in Viva Technology might offer.

The sun offers enough energy to power the whole planet several times.

Hi Spiros, can you present your company in a few lines?

Heliatek is the global leader in the field of Organic PV. We manufacture lightweight, flexible and thin photovoltaic modules that are easy to install on a variety of surfaces. These modules demonstrate an extremely low carbon footprint.

What are you going to present at Vivatech?

New modules are produced with new triple-junction cell technology that absorbs a wider light spectrum and has higher efficiency. It has the potential to disrupt the solar industry.

How is it innovative?

Up to now, the triple-junction solar cell was only applied to space applications as it is a very complicated manufacturing method. With its new roll to roll manufacturing facility, Heliatek has the potential to make this technology mainstream at a reasonable cost.

What do you expect from this participation in Viva Technology?

We expect networking with different ENGIE entities. We hope to talk to potential commercial partners and investors.
Our panels will become commercially available in 2022 so will be happy to talk also about projects!

For you, the future will be...

As our motto says: the future is light.
The sun offers enough energy to power the whole planet several times. Buildings and other free surfaces are not yet harvesting this enormous power. Heliatek wants to change this.

From June 15 to 18, visit the  ENGIE booth Viva Technology in Paris, meet Heliatek and help the future be light!
