ENGIE New Ventures invests in MAGNOTHERM, a start-up specialising in hydrogen liquefaction

This German start-up was created in 2019 in Darmstadt. It is developing a hydrogen liquefaction process based on magnetic refrigeration. This disruptive technology, which can also be used for cold production (refrigerators, air conditioners), uses magnetic refrigeration to liquefy hydrogen, allowing it to be transported and stored in larger quantities.

ENGIE New Ventures, ENGIE’s Research and Innovation investment fund dedicated to innovative start-ups that speed up the energy transition, has invested in Alpinov X. The Grenoble-based start-up, created in 2017, produces cooling systems with high environmental value using water as their refrigerant.

First injection of synthetic methane into the french gas distribution network

The ENGIE Lab CRIGEN took part in the first test of injection of synthetic methane in the natural gas distribution network with an innovative technology developed by the French startup ENERGO.  The demonstrator produces synthetic methane with CO2 directly captured on the biomethane production site and hydrogen produced by electrolysis.

ENGIE and SIT Announce Partnership to Advance District Cooling Across Southeast Asia

ENGIE and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore's first university of applied learning, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop a district cooling centre of excellence in Singapore. The collaboration between ENGIE and SIT aims at cultivating a district cooling ecosystem in Singapore and the broader region and  will enable applied research, authentic learning spaces for SIT students, co-development of curriculum content, and knowledge sharing sessions for industry and community.  The construction of ENGIE’s District Cooling System (DCS) at SIT’s upcoming Punggol campus is well underway.

H2SITE raises 12,5M€ to scale membrane reactor breakthrough technology

Bilbao, Spain – June 30, 2022 – H2SITE, a deep-tech pioneer in on-site hydrogen (H2) production, announced today that it has raised 12,5 M€ in a Series A funding round led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), with participation from Equinor Ventures, ENGIE New Ventures, TECNALIA and institutional investors from the Basque Country (Capital Riesgo País Vasco (EZTEN FCR) and Seed Capital Bizkaia (SCB).

Safran, through its Safran Corporate Ventures investment arm for high-tech startups, has teamed up with Engie New Ventures, Engie’s venture-capital subsidiary dedicated to innovative startups accelerating the energy transition, and with other partners—HTGF, MPC Capital, Extantia, Planet A and FO Holding—to invest in Ineratec, a young German firm offering technologies for the development and production of carbon-neutral synthetic fuels that could replace fossil fuels.

ENGIE Lab Singapore announced the next phase of growth in Singapore's research and innovation capabilities.

Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), ENGIE will double its research team in Singapore over the next 3 years and work closely with local universities in scaling up its competencies in the local ecosystem.  This expansion by ENGIE is the latest milestone in a long-running series of investments that ENGIE has made in Singapore, which hosts its regional operating hub for Southeast Asia. Over the last 5 years, ENGIE has successfully grown and expanded its energy services capabilities in Singapore to include advisory, research, and venture building.

ENGIE New Ventures (ENV), the corporate venture fund of ENGIE, and Clean Energy Ventures (CEV), a VC firm investing in early-stage climate tech, announce a strategic investment in ndustrial, a provider of software and services that optimize industrial facilities to drive a sustained competitive advantage. ENV and CEV co-led the $6 million Series A; Orion Energy Systems and Lineage Logistics participated in the round.
