This year, the RFI App Africa Challenge Award was intended to promote the integration of new technologies in the field of urban development and smart cities in Africa. The aim was therefore to reward digital innovations (websites, applications, SMS services, etc.) that improve urban services and the quality of life of citizens. Three finalists were selected by a Grand Jury, among 400 submitted projects.
On Tuesday, December 10, in Dakar, the jury unanimously selected the "Mon Artisan" project by 26-year-old Kevin Sesse of Ivory Coast. This connected platform allows users to solicit local craftsmen and craftswomen (plumbers, electricians, carpenters...).
"As the craftsmen or the craftswomen lack visibility, the app allows to reference them." says Winner Kevin Sesse, who will receive a prize of €15 000 from RFI to finance the development of his company.
ENGIE was proud to sponsor this challenge which aims to promote Innovation in Africa and support African start-ups.
As for the other finalists, the Innovation department of ENGIE Africa will mentor Nadia Hillary Dassi, who presented “Green Electricity”, in order to help her to improve her project and we strongly encourage Ndeye Sira Thiam to continue her project to enable Dakar public transport users to pay for their tickets by phone.
