Develop and install 100% recyclable wind turbine blades with a new resin developed by Arkema.
"Almost perfect": a wind turbine produces 100% renewable energy thanks to 94% recyclable material. Blade recycling is a vulnerability that opponents are using to undermine the wind sector.
ENGIE and Arkema decided to gather representatives from the wind value chain in order to establish a long-term partnership aiming at demonstrating the technical, economic and environmental relevance of blades built thanks to the Elium resin, developed by Arkema. For ENGIE, the purpose is to become the first company in Europe to use 100% recyclable blades on industrial-scale wind farms.
In september 2020 the project became
The ZEBRA (Zero wastE Blade ReseArch) project, driven by IRT Jules Verne, now brings together industrial companies and technological centers – Arkema, CANOE, ENGIE, Suez, LM Wind Power, Owens Corning – to tackle with this new challenge.
