More than 1000 MW of our capacities in Europe are connected to our trading room and that energy traders can follow production in real time, adjust their forecasting models and curb the parks.
DARWIN is ENGIE's platform dedicated to renewable energies. It allows to connect directly to all the Group's wind and solar power plants around the world and to collect and share billions of production data for operators. Darwin also provides them with software to help them in their day-to-day activities, such as real-time monitoring of the status of their fleet, which in turn allows them to manage their activities in a more responsive and quick way. Darwin also provides them with analysis to help them anticipate or detect problems and take corrective actions.
In addition to these operating services, for each wind or solar farm that is exposed to market risk, DARWIN allows its connection to the trading room. DARWIN thus makes it possible to better sell our energy and better meet customer needs. |
What will you showcase at Vivatech?
We will present our latest advances with 22,000 MW and 4,000 wind turbines connected to DARWIN today. Above all we want to discuss with our stakeholders, understand their needs and how to share our data. You should know that already more than 1000 MW of our capacities in Europe are connected to our trading room and that energy traders can follow production in real time, adjust their forecasting models and curb the parks.
Some of our PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) customers ask us to go further: they want to be able to access data from the farms in which they have invested and from which they buy energy. We are therefore designing data export models to meet this demand. The client could, for example, use a web service to import the data streams it needs.
I want to meet many innovative startups around digital, data and renewable energies in a logic of activation and co-construction. For example, I will take advantage of the presence of Raptor Map, a startup in which ENGIE New Ventures has invested, on the ENGIE stand to discuss with them. I also hope to see other startups with which we are not yet working but with which we could imagine collaborations.
In particular, we have an important topic over the need to connect batteries to recover data and use them in order to use their capacity for flexibility on the electrical network.
With Darwin, we are working today to ensure that tomorrow the electricity delivered to the grid will be made up of 100% green energy. This will be possible with the complete digitization of the activity and our services offer to the industry, in order to lower operating costs and enable the necessary interconnection and flexibility. For me, the future will be decarbonized and flexible. The energy transition will happen thanks to a mix between digital and renewable energies.
