NEMO, digital intelligence serving heating and cooling networks

Present once again at Viva Technology, ENGIE Digital’s NEMO platform is back in 2025 with major advances. A genuine digital backbone of urban heating and cooling networks, NEMO covers their entire life cycle from the invitation to tender to operation. Thanks to the integration of generative artificial intelligence and a better interconnection with the customers’ ecosystems, NEMO is taking smart energy management to the next level.  At the ENGIE stand, visitors will be able to see firsthand how this innovative solution is transforming the energy infrastructure of cities

nemo covers the entire value chain of urban heating and cooling networks, from responding to the invitations to tender from local authorities to the design, management and operational optimisation of these networks.

NEMO is much more than a tool; it’s a digital transformation lever for the energy infrastructure of cities.

Tell us a bit about NEMO. What makes your solution so innovative?

NEMO is a web platform developed by ENGIE Digital which covers the entire value chain of urban heating and cooling networks, from responding to the invitations to tender from local authorities to the design, management and operational optimisation of these networks. Its strength lies in its ability to integrate multiple areas of expertise - engineering, mathematics, software development - while drawing on the business expertise of ENGIE, the world leader in this area. NEMO is much more than a tool; it’s a digital transformation lever for the energy infrastructure of cities.

You were at VivaTech in 2024. What developments have you seen since then?

The past year has seen a major advance - the optimised management of cold production via NEMO. We have strengthened our ability to anticipate the energy needs of our customers, while integrating their critical data more precisely. In addition, we have introduced generative artificial intelligence (genAI) to support our sales teams in their prospecting efforts. This opens up new perspectives in terms of efficiency and personalisation.

What might we discover at your stand this year?

Like in 2024 we will be offering practical demonstrations of NEMO through various use cases. Thanks to dynamic maps, visitors will be able to view energy needs at city level and observe system behaviour in real time via simulations. It’s an immersive way of understanding how digital technology can transform urban energy management.

What do you expect from this new edition of Viva Technology?

We want to show that digital solutions are not just support tools, but genuine creators of value for industrial activities. Through NEMO, we demonstrate that digitisation can make heating and cooling networks smarter, more flexible and more sustainable.

What is your next big challenge?

We want to accelerate the adoption of genAI by the teams in charge of the development of networks. This involves better standardisation of the collection of data in real time and the automation of the management of production sites. The objective is clear: to improve responsiveness, performance and consistency at the level of our portfolio.

What question would you have liked me to ask you?

 “What will tomorrow’s challenge be?”

For us it will be about connecting all of our assets - networks, buildings, industries - in order to collect and exploit the data in real time. This will make it possible to automatically manage the infrastructure and create opportunities for energy flexibility, in particular in terms of electricity consumption. It’s what we call the Digital Reinvention, and NEMO will play a key role in it.

Visit the ENGIE stand (J39) at Porte de Versailles in Paris from 11 to 14 June to discover NEMO and many other innovative solutions that make ENGIE an essential player in energy transition.
